Family - by biological definition are the people within our bloodline, those born to us and we from, all the descendants of a specific and common ancestor. But family is so much more than the DNA we share or the behaviors we adopt.
In today’s society, however, family means so much more to us then just genetics. Family are the people and the souls we make the conscious choice to be around, those that bring love and learning into our lives.
Far too often will mill about our daily routine forgetting about the special gifts we are blessed to awaken each day with. One of the most important of these being family. Family are the reason we live, breath and what motivates our every decision on this planet. Our family is the reason we are who we are today, good, bad or indifferent, our family is the energetic force propelling us to think, feel and act as we do.
Sometimes, we all wish our family was a bit different; more stable, more understanding, more loving, more wealthy more, more, more. But what would happen if we all stopped for a moment and paused in the moment of gratitude for what they truly are rather than what we wished them to be.
Appreciation for our families can bring about an even bigger change within ourselves if we let got of the wants and the what ifs to celebrate the what is. Truly seeing our family allows us the ability to truly see ourselves, when we give ourselves the gift of validation we are then capable of growing from love, acceptance and true understanding of self.
Today on National Family Day, we at Tasha Nikora encourage you to take a beat, listen to heart and really appreciate the family you have, your blood born family, your adopted family, your furry family and friend group family. Family is the reason we are.
